This 59 Fairlane is a perfect example of a classic car from the 50’s that would make you smile every day and grab a huge amount of attention. At 7k this has to be a steal right?

There’s no reason to spend a fortune of Trifive Chevrolets or Challengers when there are plenty of Galaxies and Cutlasses laying around.

Even as a GM guy I have a soft spot for the 59-63 Galaxie

7k? Yeah, that’s a bargain. Not really far outside the going rate, either, which is what makes it impressive as an example of type. This kind of thing is *cheap*. There’s a lot of old iron that can be picked up really reasonably on these shores, which is why I had to turn my head and go rather than visit a classics museum in Northumberland when I was in the UK and had a chance. I looked at the size of the collection, and realized that with the ease of throwing together a collection in the US for a couple hundred grand, some of which I’ve seen, that I was completely and utterly spoiled. Seeing what a guy in the UK has managed in the way of about 20 cars wasn’t going to be that impressive, after all, and there were a shortage of fins, chrome, fuselage bodies, giant spacious metal, old leather, proud fenders, and all the things I really like to go to a car show for...

I see them at a fairly decent frequency for sale around here and they are generally much more affordable than something that has been hyped by collectors.

I always try to convince my friends to buy nice classics since they have a much better budget than I currently do, but they never want to despite the fact that I could help them with any problems it could develop.

Society says they are worth more. In then end they all drive the same and grab the same attention.

Nice price, and good drivers are easily available for under $10k all day. Later ones are even cheaper, I got my ‘66 for $2600 in decent driving condition. So much cheaper than the equivalent Chevys and Mopars, and every bit as cool.

My grandfather’s brother in law has a ‘63 Galaxie Convertible and it’s a really nice car. Part of the reason I like them. Plus the comparable Impala is always a low rider it seems...

Sounds like hell. Especially when you consider the cars are more expensive to buy in the first place. Glad to be in the USA!

Something fun for the weekends and trips to get some ice cream. Can't beat that

Looks good... but I would take a pass on this one due to the slushbox.

It’s not a bad price. There are quite a few ‘50s cars that can be had for under $10k in decent condition, as long as you stay away from the really cliche models that everyone gravitates toward. For the most part, mainstream FoMoCo products from that era don’t get the same love and attention as GM and Chrysler.

I'd be too much of a wimp. The crash safety standards are not up to par with today's cars

Well the designs were a bit messier than the cars from Chrysler or GM.
